Usk Show Prize Surprize

I started my business in March. I launched on THE windiest weekend the year has seen, bar none. It was beautiful, still weather on the Friday and the Monday, but Saturday and Sunday were HORRENDOUS! So, long story short, it has been a turbulent time so far. I have worked long hours, my housework chores have been forgotten and my toddler has had to entertain himself for hours on end. I have dragged my gazebo across the land, my poor dad once or twice, selling my carefully chosen gardening gifts.

My reception has been good, I have received some very encouraging comments. The long hours and wet days (which, with a gazebo, no matter how good quality is very stressful!) are worth it when total strangers tell you you are doing a good job.

So imagine my delight when I am awarded a first prize at a recent show! I felt like a gold medal winner at Chelsea. I didn’t really register there was a competition for Shopping Mall exhibitor. It was my first event of the year where I was inside a marquee, rather than out on my own with my gazebo, so I tried to get it done without hiring a van. I packed up my family car to the roof (and at one point I was tempted to put stuff on top too) and set off to Usk. It was a great day. The event is huge. I never really expected it to be so big. The atmosphere was brilliant, families were everywhere, dogs, rabbits, ducks, chickens, horses, oh you get the idea… so much was going on.

I was told the reason I had won the first prize was because my attention to detail and my knowledge about my stock. They liked my selection of items and the way I had displayed them. As an online based business, I often spend the most time making sure the way my pages are displayed are the way I would like, but it is not the same as displaying them in real life. So I hope you enjoy looking at these pictures of the day. Take a look at the About Me page too, all upcoming events are listed there.
